Tubes Used / Tube Placement Diagram
This preamp is in as near perfect working order as I can tell and
I am selling it only because I recently purchased and fully upgraded
a PV-5. I'll call the PV-7 an 8 out of 10 as there is probably
something an expert could find that I can't. There are some
scratches on the bottom of the unit that I inherited when I
purchased it last year.
I will say that the sound is classic "Conrad Johnson Sweet" and this unit
holds its own even when compared to my severely upgraded PV-5. I'm also impressed
that CJ doesn't scrimp on material and this little bugger weighs in
at 12 pounds, 13 ounces.
Tubes have been in use for a while and could stand to be replaced
for the best sonic results, but all still test in the good to strong
range on my calibrated Eico 667.
